Cap City Breaking Jam is an annual Breaking competition hosted by All of the Above Hip Hop Academy and local Breaking Crew, 99 Stylez. This free-to-the-public event showcases dancers of all ages in a Youth 1v1 and Adult 2v2 tournament-style competition. Cap City Breaking Jam brings competitors and spectators from all over the country to our city, Lansing MI, and has become an anticipated summer competition.

This Saturday and Sunday Lansing will host the inaugural Lansing Fiesta at the Adado Riverfront Park!
The founders of Lansing Fiesta, Daniel Ferreyra and Tony Alvarez sat down with Studio 10 to discuss what inspired this celebration.
They hope the event brings families, friends and the community together and hope to encourage new connections within the community!
There will be over 10 different vendors that include Mexican foods, bbq foods, shaved ice, ice cream, margaritas and much more.

In year 7 of ArtPath, 22 artists across Michigan were chosen for their work to be featured along Lansing’s beloved river trail.

Thursday afternoon, the Lansing Lugnuts welcomed the Beautiful Lives Project onto the field to give people with disabilities from across our area the chance to play with the pros.
Bats cracking, leather flashing, and smiles all around the diamond. Thursday’s event allowed people with disabilities from the area to step onto the field and work on their baseball skills with Lugnuts players.

On June 29, more than 5,000 Black girls and women will gather for a big celebration of Black girlhood and joy at the Black Girl Day of Play. The annual event celebrates the joy, freedom, and empowerment of Black women and girls. It brings Black Girlhood culture to life with many activities. These include large games, a Black Girl Art exhibit, interactive installations, and inspiring activities.

The Michigan Farmers Market Association’s (MIFMA) Farmers Markets at the Capitol are a cornerstone of downtown Lansing’s summer scene. Shoppers can choose from a plethora of products, including fresh produce, baked goods, soaps, and more. Visitors can also enjoy numerous food trucks parked along Capitol Avenue throughout the market day.
Sylvia’s Sudsery has officially opened its doors to customers in its new space at 223 S. Washington Square. The business was started in 2020 by Danielle Hastings. The grand opening of the self-care-centered store was held in May. Slyvia’s Sudsery was a recent graduate of DLI’s Middle Village accelerator program powered by Lake Trust, which empowers business owners by lowering barriers to entrepreneurship. This will be the fifth store that has opened a storefront downtown after completing the program.
Eight artists descended on downtown Lansing over the weekend carrying ladders, paint and brushes along with healthy imaginations to create works of art on the windows of mostly empty storefronts.
Local artist Bob Rose organized the paint-in by artists from mid-Michigan and Detroit as part of Best of Lansing 517 Weekend in the City.
The theme was “The Future of Downtown: Where Dreams Come True.” The artists showed their creativity from a Wizard of Oz theme by Kristina Wood to anime.
