About the Event

The Big Red Ball is Downtown Lansing’s premier fundraising and social event celebrating the meaningful momentum happening in our neighborhood while paying tribute to the stories, places, and people that define Michigan’s Downtown. Surrounded by exhibits, artifacts and moments that capture our state’s rich history, this special evening highlights downtown’s crucial role at the center of culture, creativity, and connection. By bringing together the diversity and innovation that make each part of our State unique, we honor beloved traditions while celebrating the forward-thinking ideas shaping the future of Michigan’s Downtown, starting right here in the Capital City!

This year’s event ambassadors are MSU President Kevin Guskiewicz and his wife, Amy, along with Tiffany Marie Luke, owner of LaFille Gallery. Together, they represent two very different but complementary sides of what makes Downtown Lansing special: the connection between our community and Michigan State University, and the growing creative and small-business scene in downtown. We are also excited to welcome Gray Media’s Rachelle LaGrand as this year’s event Emcee.
