Downtown Lansing is gearing up for a vibrant summer 2026 season, with a full lineup of festivals and community events that celebrate creativity, culture, and connection. From the cherished riverfront to Washington Square, residents and visitors alike can look forward to a dynamic mix of arts, food, music, and family-friendly experiences throughout the warmer months.
The season kicks off in May
- Ignition Maker Fest on Saturday, May 16, a free outdoor event held along the riverfront at Impression 5 Science Center and the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum. This hands-on festival brings together innovators, artists, and makers for a day of robotics, DIY projects, and live entertainment.
- Later in the month, the Sikh Festival & Parade on May 23–24, offers a meaningful cultural celebration filled with tradition and community spirit.
June brings a packed calendar of signature events.
- Nelson Gallery will begin their beloved Live Music Thursdays on June 11, bringing excitement and rhythm to Washington Square - the series begins with Stone Soup: A Family Dinner gathering and continues weekly until August 27.
- The Lansing Fiesta & Carnival runs June 18–21 at Adado Riverfront Park, featuring four days of food, music, rides, and performances that highlight Latinx culture.
- Beer enthusiasts can also enjoy the Lansing Beer Fest on June 13, where more than 100 beverages, food trucks, and live music create a lively atmosphere.
- The Grand Concert Series offers free admission to concerts from a variety of genres along the Lansing Center’s Riverfront Plaza. This event continues until August 27.
- Down the road in REO Town, the Lansing Juneteenth Celebration on June 19, adds an important moment of reflection and celebration, with events held throughout the surrounding region.
- Our friends in Old Town will be hosting Mid-Michigan’s largest LGBTQ+ festival, Lansing Pride, on Saturday, June 27. This is their fifth year of visibility, inclusion, and community.
As summer continues…
- Independence Day is marked by the City of Lansing’s annual July 4 Parade, Festival, and Fireworks, featuring a morning parade around the Capitol Loop and an evening concert and fireworks display at Adado Riverfront Park.
- Later in July, car enthusiasts can explore the 33rd Annual Car Capital Auto Show on July 18, where more than 200 classic and historic vehicles will be on display, presented by the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum.
- The energy continues with Lansing Flo-Fest on August 22, a free evening event celebrating hip-hop culture with live performances, family activities, and giveaways.
- Happening the same Friday, the 14th Annual Latino Night with the Lansing Lugnuts on August 22 combines a pre-game concert and mini festival with a themed baseball game at Jackson Field, creating a unique blend of sports and cultural celebration.
- Following those, the Lansing Bless Fest Weekend returns on August 23 to bring spiritual love and unity to the Capital City.
With something happening nearly every month, the 2026 summer season offers countless opportunities to gather, explore, and experience Michigan’s Downtown.
