As I head into my senior year at Michigan State, I’ve found myself reflecting on everything I’ve experienced over the past three years. Starting college can make your world feel surprisingly small. It’s easy to stay within your comfort zone, and it can be a challenge putting yourself out there, especially when you don’t know where to start. Looking back, there are so many places I wish I had explored and experiences I wish I had known of sooner.

The Michigan Farmers Market Association’s (MIFMA) Farmers Markets at the Capitol are a summer tradition in downtown Lansing, featuring fresh Michigan-grown produce, baked goods, honey, flowers, meats, handmade products, and more from local vendors. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of food trucks throughout the day.

The next market will be held Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, on the Michigan State Capitol lawn.

A century-old, 10-story building at the corner of Michigan and Washington avenues, at one time home to the Michigan Court of Appeals, that’s being renovated to house 60 new apartments is just one part of a massive project that will change downtown Lansing.

LANSING, Mich. (News 10) - Downtown Lansing is giving people a new reason to look forward to weeknights with Downtown After 5, happening every third Thursday throughout the summer. Jenea says the event is designed to remind the community there’s plenty to do after businesses close, with free live music, pop-up fun, and nearly 30 participating businesses.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Capital City Comic Con is back in Lansing for the tenth year. Starting up at three in the afternoon today at the Lansing Center. The event made its debut in 2015, drawing thousands of fans and cosplayers to the Lansing area.

LANSING, Mich. (News 10) - Fireworks capped a day of Fourth of July celebrations across Mid-Michigan on Saturday, with residents gathering for parades, concerts, and, of course, those firework displays throughout the region.

Residents said the holiday carries personal meaning alongside the public festivities.

Downtown Lansing welcomed hungry competitors and cheering spectators back to JJ’s Dog House on Independence Day for its annual hot dog eating contest, adding another fun tradition to the city’s Fourth of July festivities.
