Downtown Lansing Inc. (DLI) is excited to announce a paid Marketing and Events Internship opportunity for students ready to roll up their sleeves and gain real-world experience in a fast-paced, community-driven environment. Based in the heart of Michigan’s Downtown, this part-time, flexible position offers the chance to work directly with DLI’s Marketing and Brand Specialist and Events and Outreach Manager to help tell the stories, promote the businesses, and support the events that make Downtown Lansing vibrant and unique.
This hands-on internship is designed for juniors or seniors studying marketing, public relations, advertising, or a related field who are eager to build their skills beyond the classroom. From drafting newsletters and press releases to creating engaging social media content, interns will play an active role in shaping DLI’s marketing and communications efforts. They’ll also gain valuable insight into campaign analytics, brainstorming strategy sessions, and nonprofit brand development.
Event lovers will feel right at home. The intern will assist with planning and executing signature downtown events like Sidewalk Fest, Evening of Excellence, Trick-or-Treat on the Square, the Big Red Ball, and more. Responsibilities range from logistics coordination and volunteer communication to on-site setup, guest check-in, and post-event reporting. It’s a unique opportunity to see firsthand how large-scale community events come together, and to be part of the team that makes them happen.
Running approximately 15–25 hours per week throughout the 2026 Summer and Fall semesters (with potential to extend), this position offers a supportive learning environment that includes structured orientation, regular mentorship, skill-building projects, and a final career development review.
