March Volunteer of the Month: Tony Beyers

Tony B

When you think about what makes a community thrive, it’s people like Tony Beyers who come to mind — individuals who don’t just show up, but who roll up their sleeves and help shape the very fabric of Downtown Lansing.

As Downtown Lansing Inc.’s Volunteer of the Month, Tony has become an indispensable part of our community’s success. Whether he’s serving on our Promotions committee or spearheading the popular BrrrCrawl event, Tony brings both passion and expertise to everything he touches.

What makes Tony’s contributions particularly valuable is the unique blend of professional skill and genuine community spirit he brings to the table. As Technology Director at Redhead Creative Consultancy, Tony has over two decades of web development experience, including 21 years at Michigan State University’s IT department. His fingerprints are all over some of the region’s most important digital projects, including the websites for Downtown Lansing Inc. and the Ovation Center for Music and Arts. When Tony volunteers his time, he’s not just offering goodwill — he’s bringing world-class technical expertise. But Tony’s connection to downtown goes far beyond his professional credentials. A proud MSU graduate with degrees in finance and computer science, he’s deeply rooted in this community. When he’s not volunteering or working, you might spot him biking through downtown streets, capturing stunning aerial photography with his drone, or exploring the area with his two dogs in tow.

“I volunteer for Downtown Lansing, Inc because it’s a great way to get to know people whom I otherwise might never meet and collaborate with,” says Tony. I also believe that walkable downtown environments with a concentration of locally-owned shops, restaurants, and entertainment options are essential for a thriving region. Playing a small role in making that happen makes me happy.”

Tony’s work exemplifies what it means to be a community champion—someone who sees potential, takes initiative, and uses their talents to lift everyone up. From creating digital spaces where our community connects to organizing events that bring people together in person, Tony Beyers is helping write Downtown Lansing’s story, one project at a time.

Thank you, Tony, for all you do!
