The Salus Center has served as Lansing’s LGBTQ+ community center since opening in 2017. Located at 408 S. Washington Square in Downtown Lansing, the nonprofit provides peer support groups, community events, volunteer opportunities, and connections to local resources and services.
The organization describes its mission as building and serving an inclusive LGBTQ+ community throughout Greater Lansing. The center also hosts regular public programming and resource hours where visitors can connect with information, support services, and community organizations.
In addition to events and support groups, Salus works with local partners on outreach and advocacy efforts tied to the LGBTQ+ community in Lansing and the surrounding area. Their resource hours are held on Thursdays, 9 am -1 pm, and Sundays, 1 pm -3 pm.
This May, Salus once again brought the community together for its annual Prom event — a celebration designed to give everyone a safe, inclusive place to connect, dress up, and have fun. With this year’s “Carnival Extravaganza” theme, the evening was filled with vibrant energy, playful performances, and unforgettable moments shared among friends old and new.
More information about programs, events, and services can be found on their website. saluscenter.org.
