Get ready to usher in the holiday season in style — on Friday, November 21, 2025, Downtown Lansing, will glow as the city hosts the 41st annual Silver Bells in the City from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This beloved community tradition draws tens of thousands of attendees every year and offers a rich mix of festivities for families, friends, and visitors alike.
Schedule of Events
The evening’s celebration begins at 5:00 PM and continues through 9:00 PM in downtown Lansing. At 6:00 PM the signature Electric Light Parade steps off from the corner of Lenawee Street and South Washington Square, featuring more than 70-lighted entries, high school marching bands, and an appearance by Santa Claus himself. Following the parade, the lighting of Michigan’s official State Christmas tree takes place around 7:30 PM, followed by a community sing-along. The evening culminates with a dazzling drone light show and fireworks over the Capitol building — weather permitting.
The Featured Grand Marshal
This year’s grand marshal for the Electric Light Parade is NFL legend Herman Moore, a former wide receiver for the Detroit Lions and standout at the University of Virginia. Moore will lead the festivities as the community prepares to ring in the holidays—bringing both his athletic legacy and philanthropic spirit to the heart of Lansing’s celebration.
Silver Bells 5K | The Day After
On Saturday, November 22, 2025, the celebration continues with the 13th annual Silver Bells 5K Race in downtown Lansing. Starting at 9:00 AM, participants will enjoy a chip-timed 5-kilometre course, a long-sleeve tee, a finisher’s medal, and a costume contest with categories like “festive sweater” and “holiday movies.” Proceeds support the Chris & Louise Holman Foundation and the Silver Bells in the City event itself — so you’ll be having fun and giving back.
Whether you’re attending to watch the illuminated parade, join the chorus under the tree lights, or lace up for the 5K, Silver Bells 2025 promises festive memories, community spirit, and holiday cheer for all.
