Listen, you know you’re from Lansing when you get excited about the red balls going up again in Downtown Lansing for the holiday season. While it may sound weird, “Big Red Ball Week” is the official kick-off to the holiday season here in the capital city.
When Big Red Ball Week Begins
The festivities start on Thursday, November 6th, when the city’s big, shiny decorations appear on Washington Square, and basically create the perfect photo op.
How to Earn Downtown Digital Dollars
The best part, the city of Lansing actually is encouraging you to take pictures in front of these big balls in the downtown area, share it, and earn you Downtown Digital Dollars to spend at other local spots.
Holiday Deals From Downtown Businesses
On top of it too, the businesses downtown, will be running holiday-themed specials and little extras to make it worth your trip, with discounts, gift ideas, plus a chance to grab a coffee, wander a bit, and head back home.
Big Red Ball Gala at Knapp’s Center
After it is all said and done, it all leads up to the Big Red Ball Gala on Saturday, December 6th at the Knapp’s Center. That’s where they will celebrate how far the downtown Lansing area has come, and work to keep that momentum going.
