City of Lansing’s Coat Drive Begins August 25

LANSING, Mich. – Mayor Andy Schor announced today that the City of Lansing will host a coat drive to provide new and gently used winter coats, hats, and gloves to children and adults in need in Lansing. Item collection started this week and will run through Friday, November 7, 2025. The coats will be given away at Community Connect on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the Downtown CATA station. 

New or gently used coats, hats, and gloves are accepted. All sizes are needed, especially men’s larger sizes. Donations can be deposited in the large container located outside of Lansing City Hall and bins that are inside Lansing community centers.

 

This year’s drop-off locations are: 

  • Lansing City Hall, 124 W. Michigan Ave.

  • Foster Community Center, 200 N. Foster Ave.

  • Gier Community Center, 2400 Hall St.

  • Schmidt Community Center, 5825 Wise Rd.

  • Letts Community Center, 1220 W. Kalamazoo St.

  • Maurer’s Sanitary Cleaners, 2815 E. Saginaw Street
