LANSING — A counter-service Cajun boil restaurant is poised to open in a 3,000-square-foot storefront on South Washington Square where Grand Traverse Pie Company closed more than 2½ years ago.

Sea LeVeaux could open downtown at 200 S. Washington Square by April, owner Antwan Johnson said, “and if it takes a little longer, we’re fine with that.”

Signage for the restaurant is already on the storefront’s exterior and Johnson said interior renovations are “near completion. We’re just fine-tuning a couple things, waiting on a few equipment pieces and pretty much just getting the vibe together, getting our culture right.”

When it opens, Sea LeVeaux aims to be a fast-casual, sit-down restaurant offering kiosk ordering of Cajun boil-inspired bowls and alcoholic drinks, Johnson said.

“Our motto is, ‘Pardon our French,’” he said. “It’s basically our take on Cajun cuisine that’s popular amongst a lot of people nowadays — the seafood boil.”
