Led by Downtown Lansing Inc. and Comerica, the Small Business Support Grant Program is designed to provide assistance for key businesses — such as retail, dining, arts, and entertainment — that are located or will be located within the core walkable downtown area. The people and places that make up our community are an integral part of transforming a strong downtown and attracting visitors, and these grants help businesses make that happen.
Eligible small businesses can receive grant funding of up to $10,000 to go toward expenses that can help them expand, improve their image, and enhance their processes. This program is made possible by Downtown Lansing Inc.’s partnership with Comerica, as well as other supporters at the State and local level.
Small Business Support Grants are designed to help with the following eligible expenses:
- New kitchen equipment
- Retail displays
- Furniture needs (indoor and outdoor)
- Point-of-sale systems
- Staffing assistance
- Cosmetic upgrades (interior and exterior)
Application Details:
- The application period for our 2023 grants is currently closed. This grant is expected to open to applications by Summer 2024.
- Applicants must apply prior to making purchases that would be covered by the grant, or prior to opening/expanding.
- Grants are available for first-floor spaces only.
- Applicants must be in good standing with the City of Lansing, having all required permits and inspections.
- Not all applicants will be awarded grants.
