LANSING — A downtown street most known for state buildings, parking ramps and CATA buses has become a hub of new construction activity that could revitalize the capital city.
After years of anticipation, contractors have officially broken ground on Lansing’s new City Hall. I’m your Lansing neighborhood reporter, Asya Lawrence, here with a look at what’s to come for the city’s new home base.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday for Lansing’s new city hall building.
It will be located at 425 South Grand Avenue, across from the CATA Transportation Center and near the historic Cherry Hill neighborhood.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Hundreds of millions of dollars in new funding for major construction projects passed the final hurdle in Lansing, with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation saying the strategic funds will reshape the skyline of the city.
City leaders expect to see cranes in the air in the coming months, with the funds going towards the construction of shopping districts, a new skyscraper, and more than 550 new housing units—teh biggest change coming to the downtown area in a generation.
LANSING — The Capital Area Transportation Authority is expanding its downtown Lansing presence with a new administrative building.
Board members approved on Monday a $1 million purchase of 511 S. Washington Ave, a former Greyhound Bus station near its downtown transportation center at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Lenawee Street

The project isn’t set to start for another two years, but developers say the work really starts now, and they are excited about the future of the 10-story building overlooking the Capitol.
