Grab your hats and jackets, pull on your boots and bring the whole family downtown Saturday, February 27 from 11am-5pm to experience a day of outdoor fun!

Lansing Winterfest, presented by the Capital Region Community Foundation in partnership with Downtown Lansing Inc., turns downtown Lansing into a winter world of wonder, consisting of over a dozen public art sculptures, crafted from ice. At least four of these frozen installations will be carved live over the course of this frosty fiesta! Throughout the day, meander along the Lansing River Trail from downtown-Old Town, stroll through the downtown district, and participate in socially-safe fresh-air activities. Plus, enjoy a tasty hot trip down the Cocoa and Coffee Walk (including some local treats), and make time to #supportlansing by visiting Impression 5’s outdoor celebration of nonprofits, complete with interactive live demos.

 

Cocoa and Coffee Walk, 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.: Bring your family and stroll the Lansing River Trail from Old Town to Downtown as you warm-up with hot chocolate or coffee, snap photos with one or all of the 16 ice sculptures located all along the riverfront and downtown for a chance to win a membership from Impression 5 Science Center! So don’t miss out on all of the exciting outdoor entertainment in the Capital City – all found along the Cocoa and Coffee Walk! Hot chocolate or coffee will be available along the walk from Runabout Coffee cart, Ferris Coffee, Blue Owl Coffee, Kiwanis Club and more!

 

Live Ice Carving Demos, Noon-3:00 p.m.: Live carvings of ice sculptures will take place at Noon, 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., along the Lansing River Trail from Turner Park in Old Town-Rotary Park in downtown Lansing, as well as a live carving in the traffic circle at Michigan Ave. and Washington Square!
There will be a total of 16 ice sculptures created throughout downtown!

 

Block Market Pop-Up and Adult Warming and Drinks Station, 11:00 a.m.-5:00p.m.: Located inside the former City Market, Shop and support multiple Lansing Block Market vendors as culture, ethnicity, and entrepreneurship will be brewing, along with adult beverages available in the warming area.(Adults 21+ looking to enjoy the adult beverage station require ID).

 

 

 

Cold Butt Boat Race, 12:30-1:30 p.m.: Cheer on local tandem kayak teams as they have some frozen fun on the river with River Town Adventures.

 

 

 

Pup House Station and Pet Photo Booth, 1:30-3:00 p.m.: Bringing your pup downtown for the frozen festivities?  Capture the moment at the Pet Photo Booth and visit the Pup House play area located north of Rotary Park.

 

 

Impression 5 WinterFest Outdoor Celebration, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.: Head to Impression 5 for an outdoor WinterFest celebration featuring a selection of activities crafted to show you how local non-profits have innovated new ways to serve you throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Explore Impression 5’s outdoor campus, and enjoy activities from the Allen Neighborhood Center, Potter Park Zoo, REACH, Fenner Nature Center, and Impression 5!  Reservations are required for Impression 5’s WinterFest outdoor activities. Museum visits also require a reservation.

 

Ice Skating, All Day: Get ready to lace up those skates and enjoy the great outdoors with the Community Foundation’s and City of Lansing’s brand new ice rink located at City Hall Plaza, across from the State Capitol. The ice rink is open all day, Saturday, February 27!

 

 

Winter Patios and Treats, All Day: Visit downtown Lansing’s newest hotel, the Courtyard Marriott for Starbuck drinks and tours of the new hotel. Enjoy food, brews, or cocktails on the winter patios of Lansing Brewing or Midtown Brewing Company. MP Social will be open with special winter themed drinks and small plates for attendees to enjoy indoors our on the back deck too! Thai Village and Social Sloth Cafe will have their outdoor seating areas open for your dining delight. Shop Summit Comics & Games and the Peanut Shop, and #LiftUpLocal downtown businesses!

School of Rock: Students from the Lansing area’s School of Rock music school will be jamming out their favorite tunes by the Brenke Fish Ladder in Old Town from 2:00-4:00 p.m.!

Old Town Chocolate Walk, February 26-27: Purchase your tickets and spend some time hopping from business to business, filling your box with chocolate, collecting punches and shopping the businesses in Old Town.
