All of our layers define us. We are not just our top layer, nor are we our base layer. Instead, a unique collection of experiences combines to form a truly one-of-a-kind perspective. In his exhibition, “Grow,” Robert Shelburg analyzes this theme of progress and development over time. His pieces present a combination of mixed media works, including acrylic painting, ink, tissue paper, and decoupage, that incorporate a unique layering technique to add complexity and depth. As we grow, life adds layers and texture to our existence — and, in turn, growth.

The exhibition will be on display at Nelson Gallery through February 29, 2023. An opening reception will be held on February 9 from 5 – 7 p.m.
